review 1: John Milton's trade is murder. You wouldn't notice him in a crowd, but heaven help you if YOU are on his hit list. Completely ruthless, he excels in whatever is required of him, let's nothing get in the way. In this novella he's sent to North Korea with a particular target in mind, but this is a really dangerous state even for someone as accomplished as he is. For such a short read, Mark Dawson manages to set the scene perfectly, and certainly racks up the tension. The character just manages to stay one step ahead of his pursuers, leading to some nail biting moments. Sets the stage nicely for further John Milton thrillers.
review 2: I picked this book up for free via Noisetrade's Book section (Noisetrade.com). I really enjoyed it! A short novella introduction
... moreinto Mark Dawson's John Milton character. The setting - North Korea - was fascinating and brought to life with great descriptive detail. Even in its brevity, the story kept you wondering what would happen, would Milton get caught, how would he get out of it, etc. I'm looking forward to reading more by Dawson! less
