review 1: Part history, part pop-culture compendium, this book is a wonderful slice of Americana. For most kids of the 70s and 80s like myself, you may have thought you lived during the heyday of Saturday morning nirvana (and I believe we did, but I'm biased), but there were other "golden eras" of cereal documented here that would make a kid at heart of any age yearn for younger days. The book itself resembles a small box of cereal, which is an indication of of the serious expanse of dedication of the authors, with just a sprinkling of whimsy to make a part of your "balanced breakfast."
review 2: Seinfeld is my all-time favorite television show and, like Jerry, I share an affinity for cereal. As I kid it was the only breakfast I ever liked. Forget pancakes, bacon, eggs,
... moreI wanted cereal each and every morning. It was impossible to down a bowl (or two or three) without perusing the brightly colored box as I ladled spoonfuls of puffs and flakes into my mouth. Then, much was about the prize inside, boxes chosen for their possible yield rather than taste alone. As much as I found the dippy commercials to be nauseatingly cloying I could not help but pause in front of the TV. Maybe, just this once, the Trix Rabbit would get a bowl. This book was nostalgic, memories flooding back, recognition of previous cereal box versions, short-lived favorites (C3PO and Strawberry Shortcake anyone?), and trivial tidbits. And, for the record, this morning I dined on my current favorite combination - shredded wheat n' bran and cheerios. less

At first I thought it was a Wacky pack compilation, but found it to be informative and entertaining.
