review 1: Not the best book I've read this year or even the best I've read from Martina Cole. If you look at the way it is written it is easy to conclude the many women crime writers feel the need to use more bad language in order to appear tougher than the men. In this book it is well and truly overdone. The book also includes considerable repetition which does not add to the story and the constant shifts of point of view are at times clumsy. I am unlikely to reread this one.
review 2: Love Martina Cole and loved The Ladykiller so thought this would be a good read to follow on with, as it revisits characters DC Kate Burrows and Patrick Kelly...but i have to admit this book didn't grip me as much as any of the other books I've read of Martina Cole's so far and I have yet
... more to finish reading it. Put it down several months ago after a day or two of trying to read it and haven't returned to it since. Perhaps having had a break with some other authors, I may return to this and enjoy it more than my first attempt. less
