review 1: Me and Miss Calmes have a strange relationship. I can love one of her books today and hate another tomorrow but mostly, I'm just lukewarm about her stories. Neither good or bad. Just in between. Fortunately, this story was really one of my favorites. The world-building is terrible. You only get what's happening right at the end and the background is just as bad. But the romance? Oh boy. Not only all kinds of sexy but also easy, unconcerned, sweet and just plain right. Gave me all kinds of happy feelings and I enjoyed it all immensely. Simple. Just two guys who got along great and made the best of it without complicating things. Nice HEA too. Kind of a breath of fresh air from this author.
review 2: Story just moved too fast and was too short to really get into.
... more All the begging by Ryan from the start just felt creepy. Thing occurred without much or any explanation. This could have been a great story but I was just left feeling uncomfortable and confused. The way the char for the next book in the series was introduced left me with a WTF just happened moment. Complete facepalm moment.Usually I'm a big fan of Mary Calmes' work so I guess I was more disappointed than I would have been if this came from another author. I'll read another book of the series and hope it turns around. less
