review 1: I picked this one up from the Library at school simply because I loved the cover!!! Although aimed at teens/ YA, I loved this simply told historical novel. Told from Kitty's perspective, it is a riches to rags tale in which Kitty goes from being a well-respected milkmaid, to a destitute penniless girl on the streets of London. Although the ending is a little far-fetched, it is a happy one and overall quite an enjoyable read.
review 2: Wow, after having finished with a total fail of a book, I wasn't sure I was ready for this book. I thought my brain had been sucked out by the other, and I just wasn't ready to commit. But I did! I was drawn in immediately, the story line was fresh, the characters enjoyable and well rounded. I really enjoyed the historical refe
... morerences, and just the plain old story itself. The writing is in itself highly enjoyable. If you're tempted by the beautiful colors on the front cover, then you're being drawn in for the right reasons. A really wonderful book, and I highly recommend! less

Like the fact Mary obviously does lots of research and yet her writing wears it lightly. Good tale.
