review 1: So I wrote this entire thing, then my computer decided to delete it... I wasn't too happy. I'll try to get it spot-on. I'm not sure what mind-frame the mangaka has gotten into lately, but I really like it! This series has seemingly taken on a very sentimental and/or philosophical sort of mood, and it is exactly what this series has been needing to capture my deeper interest and to set the "mysterious vampire" type of feeling. The artwork has also improved with age, the panelling is perfect in this volume. Yuuki's dreams were a killer to my feels.Anyhow, I'm not willing to even slightly spoil anything for you, so this will just be my impressions of the volume. Such progress! I can feel the mangaka readying this series to end, sadly enough. I really hope this will be a good ... moreending.Being somebody who likes Yuuki with Zero, I can't help but fear for the ending! But like Zero said, we always knew some she was most likely to end up with Kaname (I'm not actually sure how it'll end, I haven't finished the series.) These last two volumes have been pretty Zero friendly, so that's nice to see Zero hasn't been well... ignored. I have legitimate reasons for not liking Kaname with Yuuki (I do like him as a character, but I think their relationship might be unhealthy for both of them.) Don't flame me for giving my opinion, guys. I think Kaname is quite unclear and manipulative with Yuuki, to the point where neither Yuuki nor I know exactly what he wants of her. To put it short and sweet, I don't trust him. Hold some peace knowing that this volume is good, and the series is seemingly headed in the right direction.Story: 4/5 - Like a fine wine, this series overall has really improved with time, even down to the story. Headed in the right direction and hopefully it stays there. These recent volumes have really been suspenseful. Art: 4/5 - I never really appreciated this mangaka's art style with the early volumes, but now I do see how truly pretty this series is. Art also improved with age.Characters: 4/5 - Zero is as stoic as ever. Kaname is as confusing as ever. Yuuki is the one who catches my eye as of late, she really is trying to stand up for her cute little self, which is refreshing. Thank you for reading, I hope it helps! I give my honest opinion as detailed as I wish and hope to influence your chances of purchasing the subject under review, whether it is positive or negative.
review 2: Urghhhh this series is dragging so much... I really don't understand how so many people can actually enjoy and even love this story. It's so long, and the characters are so bland. At least the art is pretty, but it really does not remove the fact that the story is so angsty it's ridiculous. If I had not challenged myself to actually finish this, I would probably have given up after the first volume. I don't really get what is happening in this volume. It's very apparent that the chapters were written separately, in this one (or maybe it has to do with the fact I read volume 16 a few weeks ago?). It's just a big meeeeeh again. less
