review 1: "Amazing! Ever since I saw this series in separate hardcover editions about four years ago I was intrigued because finally, Iron Fist has his own graphic novel! I was not able to acquire those books since at the time each costs hefty. Now, this paperback collection is a dream come true. This is a fine example of an epic masterpiece! The team of Fraction, Brubaker and Aja is awesome. What we all get here is a package of great story telling and fantastic art. This is an immortal work for the Iron Fist character that will go down to history as one of the best there ever was."
review 2: Wow! Fantastic read -- best Iron Fist story arc ever. Truthfully, I was always more of a fan of the *idea* of Iron Fist, but I never much enjoyed the comics. This has changed. Dras
... moretically.Fraction & co. craft a wondrously enjoyable set of tales against the backdrop of an ever-expanding mythology of the Iron Fist. We meet Iron Fists past, read tales of old, and listen to the lessons of a more recent Iron Fist, Danny Rand's immediate predecessor, as his tale is interwoven strategically throughout the "present day" story, which actually functions more as a track than the train itself, on which the rest of the stories ride. The martial arts, the mysticism, the mythology, and the man of Iron Fist becomes a much greater thing the the Marvel Universe than he's ever been, and it's no small feat by writer Matt Fraction to accomplish this without potentially damaging the character. However, Matt moves mystical mountains mightily. The result is magical.A near-perfect tale. An absolute must-read. I'd have given this 4.75 stars (of 5) if GoodReads provided such an option. There were times where the writing slowed unnecessarily, but that is going to happen in even the most well-crafted books. The art is great, then blech, then great, then mediocre, then rock-solid...this is an ongoing issue in comicdom. The inconsistency in art styles or quality from issue to issue can be infuriating. Comics companies need to remember that the best comics have art that compliments the quality of the story or vice versa. It's a dual-format media, unlike traditional books or paintings. Also unlike movies wherein you can sometimes cover up the lack of quality with spiffy lens flares or other EFX, or a flash of flesh, in some cases. less

I have so much respect for Danny; I also love how him and Clint look like long lost brothers.

Quality dipped in some places, some stories unnecessary, otherwise strong collection.
