review 1: I got this book when I went to Word on The Street with my friends and overall, it was quick and funny enough. The sections that I liked the most were “What it means when you say literally” (had a recent convo about this with my friends a few days ago.), “American vs. British accents”, "If my brain were an imaginary friend”, “The crap we put up with getting on and off an airplane”, "Why captain Higgins is my favourite parasitic flatworm" and lastly, "What We Should Have Been Thought In Our Senior Year of High". The formatting reminded me of Hyperbole and a half by Allie Brosh(which I really liked). However, I just found this book to be too short and ultimately, forgettable.
review 2: Why Grizzly Bears Should Wear Underpants is the fourth book and s
... moreecond anthology from TheOatmeal.com creator, Matthew Inman. It's not really really an anthology but the description is still apt. I have always enjoyed The Oatmeal and this book was on sale at my local Barnes and Noble so I bought it. My wife and I made this our bathroom reader and my normally long visits instantly became even longer. It was a good thing that I read this on the toilet because I very nearly laughed my butt off. Ba-dum-ching! Buying this book directly led to the end of a fight so it holds a very dear place in my heart. It was a nice common ground for us and, you know, laughs. This book is a collection of some of the more famous cartoons from Matt and The Oatmeal. I LOVED the grammar jokes throughout, especially “What It Means When You Say Literally” and "e.g. vs. i.e." I really enjoyed men and women in just a t-shirt and "Dear Sriracha Rooster Sauce." I laughed during literally (see what I did there) the entire book. Why Grizzly Bears Should Wear Underpants is a great, easy read that will more than likely leave you laughing. You will find this much funnier if you a grammarian and appreciate well-placed profanity. If those things do not sound appealing I suggest that you check out The Oatmeal to see if you would appreciate the humor. PS: I'm counting this book as a graphic novel because it is over 150 pages. less
