review 1: A beautifully written story about a 30 year old environmental activist woman and a French/Canadian sculptor who moves to Nova Scotia trying to escape some teenage debauchery foisted upon him by the art community in New York thinking him to be a child prodigy. The sculptor is hired for an obscene amount of money to sculpt a nude statute of the woman activist by a unscrupulous land developer (is there any other kind) who will tear down the beloved home of the activist if she doesn't pose for the statute. Yes, it sounds overdramatic and a little over the top, and some things that happen just don't ring completely true. But, it is a lovely romance between the sculptor and the activist and the writing is first rate so I did enjoy the book.
review 2: This book kep... moret me interested enough to read the whole thing but I don't think I've ever disliked a character more! I thought Fallon was the most whiny, annoying female ever and I really hoped Max wouldn't take her back after she left. All the "trauma" of her life only irritated me more because it seemed like she was using it as an excuse to be rude to other people. I did like that the setting was in Nova Scotia! less
