review 1: This is a book that I randomly picked up for free at a place that was giving away books. I had no idea what it was going to be about, but put it on my bookshelf at home. Six months later I randomly picked it up for a long flight because I know I could leave it when I was done. This was an ok book. It showed a relatively real life experience in high school for Jessica Darling. At times it was very slow and I was not impressed by the book. I would not recommend this for my friends or anyone. This is not a book that I enjoyed reading.
review 2: This one was heading for solid four stars until the ending. Such as it was.I'm trying to think of it as a sort of "performance art" situation - the author wanted us to really FEEL the character's reaction to being manipulat... moreed and betrayed by someone she thought she could trust, so she built up trust with us and then betrayed us with an ending that resolved absolutely nothing about the story. The character is frustrated and confused, and so are the readers - perfect synchronicity.But I'm not sure I buy it. I was thinking about reading the second book, just to get the resolution, (and because I did really enjoy parts of the book). But I don't think I'm going to put myself in the situation where I might be stuck with ANOTHER ridiculous non-resolution.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I don't think I'll sign up to be fooled. less
