review 1: As much as I wanted to enjoy this book, I couldn't get past the horrible job that was done putting this book into the kindle format. At one point, there was a sentence that repeated every few paragraphs. And numerous times two sentences were reversed. This made the story very hard to follow.Without these problems, I would rate this book a 5, but I find this level of errors unacceptable, and I will not pay for the rest of the trilogy for fear I would find the same situation.
review 2: I liked this book because reminded me of the Whispering Pines series by Carlson where the main character renovates an old home as well as finding her own identity. Widow,Anna Larson has returned home for her mother's funeral and to settle her mother's affairs. Anna's mother and ... moregrandmother were Native Americans. Unlike her mother, Anna is proud of her heritage and cherished the connection to her grandmother Pearl. While sorting through her family's possessions, Anna meets Hazel who is studying the Native Americans of the area. With Hazel's help, Anna decides to turn her family home into an inn so she can be free of her overbearing mother-in-law. Anna regains her sense of self worth as she works to provide a home for herself and her daughter. less
