review 1: 3.5 starsThis is Dillon's story and it's not pretty. Dillon Wexfield High school biggest bully he's notorious for bullying special kids. When he gets caught again for doing what he does, the school takes different measurements this time. Since Dillon has a knacks for finding and tormenting special kids he gets to join their class. On his first day in this class he see's Candence and is blow away by her beauty, but he wouldn't be Dillon is he didn't have some shady plan and he does. He plans to get Candence to fall in love with him and than hurt her feelings. Dillon doesn't count on falling in love himself.Candence is deaf she knows Dillon is trouble but she see's something in him. What I liked:Again I love that the author takes a different issue and makes a beautiful love ... morestory from it.I love the story and the writing.Candence might be deaf but she still hears and she will not accept bullying from nobody.I like Candence's mom she's a great teacher and mom. This book has some more Kaden and Isabella and in this case more is better. What I didn't like so much:Dillon might be changing but it still doesn't make it o.k for all he did, I don't feel that he's that sorry. I loved the story but I feel like reading the same story twice being Count on me, the receipt is the same. The fact that Dillon's dad made him fight was unrealistic, I wondered what happened after the fight were he ended up in the hospital. Were there any consequences for his dad? How about his mom?The change in Dillon was to fast. I wish people could change overnight and that there could be an end to bullying. The author does a great job addressing bullying.
review 2: High school is a fucked up place. Shit happens an no one really talks about it. Readin this book. The author is talking about it. Its like she walked the halls, saw things happen or experienced them herself and wrote about the reality of it. Dillon Murphy, there are guys like him all over high school. They probably don’t do the same shit he did but his attitude and the way he looked at them and the world , its very real.I said this when I read Count On Me and im gonna say it again. I was Dillon. I was Kayden. I was so pissed at my own life that at a point I was the one makin other people miserable. That’s how I know that a lot of what happens in here is real. Because I’ve lived it.I notice things bout people who read these kind of books. They want the main male to just be perfect right from the start yet complain when he’s to perfect. They get angry when he’s a total dick. So if ur like that, don’t read this.Dillon is an asshole. He remains an asshole for awhile. He will make u want to punch him in the throat and kick him in the balls. He’s mean, but theres also a lot more to him. If you keep reading you’ll see that there’s a whole lot more behind him than just the evil he creates. I love how he was portrayed. The back and forth struggle he has because its hard noticing things and wantin to change. Its fucking scary to. Seeing that the way u are isn’t the way ur meant to be and wanting to fight against it so hard because the way u are in the moment is easier. Its fucking brilliant.Caddy is like Belle but isn’t like Belle. She’s the only character in existence that can handle Dillon. She calls him on his shit doesn’t let him get away with anything and never lets up. It’s only natural that the two of them would go toward each other because they both represent things the other really wants and needs. This story is like Count On Me but isn’t. It takes a different road with the same result. It sheds light on real issues, real struggles and in the end gives hope and shows and proves change.Dillon Murphy by the end is redeemed but if ur looking for him to do it in the first 10 pages, try another book. This one isn’t like that and it’s a progression, just like real life.I think I liked this book more than Count On Me because I identified more with Dillon than Kayden. Kayden wanted to be good right from the first page and struggled to get there. Dillon needed to be shown and guided. Cannot fucking wait for Eric’s book next month. Bring it on.If ur looking for a book that will make u feel things, good or bad this is it. A definite 5* read if u give it the chance it deserves. Give Dillon and Cadence the chance. It was also pretty fuckin awesome to have appearances by Belle, Kayden and Eric in this one too. Liked that shit almost as much as I did the main characters. less
