review 1: Another wonderful well written historical romance by Mia Marlowe. Its a short easy read that leaves you with a smile and desire for more from this talented author. Cait Grant has been sent by her father to her newly betrothed, Adam Cameron, Laird of Bonniebroch, and long time enemy of Cait's father. Cait has agreed to murder Adam after they are married and a short time has elapsed. Adam has agreed to the betrothal of this woman that he has never met since as laird he must marry and provide heirs. If he can heal a breech between the two warring groups it is all the better. He decides that he will love his wife and shares this info with her. He tells her if they act as if they love each other, it will come to pass. It is in this agreement that out story becomes a story to... more treasure. It is an excellent read.
review 2: I've read a good deal of Mia Marlowe's other books and am usually happy with them. This was my first Scottish Highland book and I wasn't disappointed. The characters, as usual were well fleshed out and interesting. She brings them to life and draws you right into their lives and their love, of course. This one was slightly different as the heroine had an unusual quest, to kill her new husband after they got married. Throw in a bit of mystical magic and promises made in blood and you have the makings of a good read. My only complaint, it was far too short. I would have liked to spend much more time with Cait and Adam as they fell in love. I hear she's got others in this line. Hmmm, let's check them out. less
