review 1: This is one I have mixed feelings on. I really wanted to like it. It sounded like a book we could learn something from. Betty Bunny goes to the toy store and loads everything she finds into her cart. When she refuses to pick just one item and her mom takes her from the store without purchasing anything, Betty throws an award-winning tantrum (sound familiar, anyone?) Later, Betty's dad comes up with a solution, and Betty has a chance to learn her lesson. But... she doesn't. And on the final page, Betty has seemingly come up with a way to outsmart her parents. Or at least give it another try. I could so relate to Betty's mother, and I have a hunch preschooler could strongly relate to Betty herself. For that reason, I found the book highly amusing. B... moreut...that ending. Realistic, yes. Good example for my young reader? Not so much.
review 2: Many of our young customers will be able to relate to Betty Bunny's plight. When her mother tells her that she can have only one toy from the toy store, Betty does not understand why she cannot get everything she wants. Fortunately, her father and mother devise a plan to teach Betty the basic facts of money management. They give her own money and allow her to figure out on her own that her money simply is not enough to buy everything she wants. Her new toy, however, doesn't catch on so quickly!!!! less
