review 1: Betty wants to be a success at soccer, but does not know how. I found the book a little bit preachy, but enjoyed its emphasis on practicing in order to achieve success. it's also not an easy read, but the illustrations are helpful. also, i liked how the family worked together (the older brother helping Betty learn the game, and practice) to help Betty get better at the game. the book would be instructive for any young child struggling with learning a skill.
