review 1: It was a very long book and it took a while for the story to pick up. It's about a dysfunctional family. A girl who is abandoned by her father and later has to help him get out of trouble. She also is in search of knowing who her mother is. It was a nice ending, wanted to finish and I did but the author could have shorten it a bit. It was a book I had to read and then take a break. Just seem to go on and on.
review 2: This is a delightful story. The characters are likeable and interesting and we study family bonds and love.In the North Carolina Piedmont one July 4th Jack Petigrew shows up at the home of his sister, Sam, with his seven-year-old daughter, Annie. After a few minutes he is gone after telling his daughter to look in the barn for her birthday prese
... morent.Sam and her friend, Clark, raise Annie since no word is heard from Jack for ten years. But the plane ignites a passion in Annie for flight. We follow Annie as she copes with abandonment learns love and stability and follow her into the shenanigans of her farther's life. less
