review 1: I enjoyed reading this book, the characters were all well developed and even the ones with the bad parts were appealing. Its a story of a conman that has put love first. He saves his child from adoption to a life on the run….for a short while. Early in her life Jack comes to realize that his con lifestyle may be more than a child should bear….so he leaves her to live with his sister Sam and her live in friend, Clark. It was meant to be a life of predictability as that is what is best for children to grow up with. 26 years later, he reenters Annie's life, and there are so many questions and answers that she is looking for. I found this book to be very entertaining on a lot of levels and Malone did a fantastic job filling in all of the details on this well told story. O... morene of my favorite things about this book is that it punctuates all of the loose ends! Fantastic! Good read's allow half stars, but this book is a strong 3.5!
review 2: Well, I read this 540 page book in four or five days so I must have enjoyed it. I've always loved Malone (along with McMurtry, McGuane, McEwan, Moore and Mosley; I don't have to wander through much of a bookstore), but thought I'd read everything he had out there. "Four Corners" is a few years old so it was a treat when I ran across it.Is this sophisticated fiction? Does it take new and daring approaches to the medium? Does it challenge? Is it even his best work? No to all of these, but the man can really tell a story and really make you care about his characters. And he can make you wish the book twice as long.The 'Also by' page indicates there are two other books by him I don't think I've read. Please stand by. less
