review 1: A fascinating work: well written, persuasive, backed by medical research, that argues we can live longer, healthier lives, and lose weight by doing a fasting diet (500 calories a day for women, 600 for men) two non-consecutive days a week. The only reason I didn't give this book five stars is that as the book was published in the UK, measurements, weights, cooking times, are given in grams, stone, Celsius; a future American edition using ounces, pounds, Fahrenheit, would be helpful (in the meantime, conversion charts can be found on the internet).

So clear and sensible was this book that I read about half in one sitting, then started on the diet the next day, excited. So far, I've found 5:2 to be refreshing in unexpected ways, and have probably increased my productivity because of the fasting protocol. less
