review 1: George is an ape, but the man in the funny hat keeps calling him a monkey - every time he sells George to someone new. George has a bit of a temper, so it's hard for him to find a permanent home/situation. Actually, he'd just like to go back to the jungle, thank you very much, but that stupid man keeps finding him and luring him back with bananas. Finally, as he's about to be sent into space, George takes a stand. He doesn't WANT to go into space. The man with the funny hat should go into space instead. He takes the man's money (Ooh!) and throws it into the space ship, slamming the door shut once the man is inside. Guess what? The man doesn't want to go into space either. When the shuttle takes off, George is able to ride it back to the jungle, before it leaves th... moree earth's atmosphere. All's well that ends well! I never liked Curious George. He was a pain in the butt. Furious George is much more my speed. I'm glad he figured out the thing with the bananas before he wound up in space. Hooray!
review 2: My 5 yr old loves the silliness of this book and the similarity to Curious George. I find it a little tedious as the novelty of the Curious George parody wears off after the first 10 seconds. But book has a lot of good points mixed in w/ the silliness and parody - the difference between monkeys vs. apes, the evils of greed, and that it's a bad idea to take a wild animal out of its natural habitat. less

Not bad but nowhere near as good as his Goodnight Goon or The Runaway Mummy.

This book is supposed to parody Curious George, but I didn't get it.

Appeals to my inner animal liberationist...
