review 1: This was a decent book. I must say though, the ending was thoroughly confusing. I couldn't figure out exactly what the ending meant because of the whole dream sequence thing and I couldn't tell what was his dream and what was his reality. I guess that it was most likely done on purpose. However, I was always told that the last thing you want to do is confuse your reader. I would think that this would be the ultimate in rule-breaking - confusing your reader at the very end. With all of that said, I liked the book, the flow was good and I seemed to enjoy the characters and their development, if minute. They were somewhat likeable; but, once again, I couldn't get over the ending and this is why the book got 3/5 for me.
review 2: Walden is a story about an angst rid
... moreden teenager barely in his first year at college. I initially bought this book because of my present situation. I figured being in college and all, I'd be able to relate to the character. It seemed like such a good subject but I could never quite relate to any of the characters. They didn't seem real, and some weren't developed nearly enough. Such as Brook, Walden's girlfriend, it would have been nice to know her story. Perhaps it wouldn't have felt as if he was making love to a cardboard cut out during their moment of passion near the pond. I had a real issue with the characters.......I don't know quite how to explain it......I just wasn't attached to either of them....and it made for a low quality read. less

Oops! This is not the Walden I was thinking about! I read (and liked) the one by Thoreau.

I found this a powerful look into the mind of a young man trying to find himself.

Ulysses meets Catcher in the Rye meets Dead Poets Society. Loved it!

A quick, funny and deep read. I got a lot out of it.

A great addition to the campus novel genre.
