review 1: Well schnaps... Remember that wtf feeling you had in the first book? The sixth element with Bruce Willis where your brain was so fucked you didn't know what was true and what wasn't? Well, that lasted in the beginning of this book, but it slowly started fading away. The story starts solidifying with what's true and what isn't, and there's more realism now. There's more concrete reality to understand what's going on. Of course, like the first book, you'd have to be high on every drug imaginable to even get a shot at predicting what's going to happen, but frankly, there ain't a shot in hell you'll be able to figure it out. I mean, just.... No.The suspense in this is ridiculous. You're in the edge of your seat for most of the book. It has a tinge of horror-ish stuff g... moreoing on because frankly, some of the stuff is terrifying. Whether you like Mara or not is irrelevant. You still have to admire her strength. I'd probably have soiled 30 years worth of pants if I was in her shoes, terrified of what was going on. I mean... Yea.Very suspenseful, no fucking clue what'll happen next, and frankly I gave up. You should too. You know how you don't have a clue of what a high person will say next? Yea, that's how the plot twists are in this book. You'll never see them coming. Sure, some are obvious, but the biggest are not. Not exactly my cup of tea due to the darkness of it, but I will finish the series since it's so insanely gripping. Mara is a fucking saint for how she handles everything and the fact that her family doesn't believe her. I think that alone would drive me crazy. Noah? He really grew into his skin in this book. It still feels like he's a supporting character and should really be more developed into a lead role. At this point, all I know is that he's sexy, really nice and super obliging, understanding and truthful of anything relating to Mara. As to his own character? I really wish it would be developed more. A pity he's sidelined in the insanity
review 2: TELL ME HE'S ALIVE I AM LITERALLY HYPERVENTILATING AND SHAKING OH MY GOSH TELL ME HE ISNT DEAD TELL ME THAT EVIL DOCTOR KELL IS LYING PLEASE! Ok sorry. Sorry sorry. They wouldn't kill off Noah he's too essential to the plot. They wouldn't kill off Noah. They wouldn't kill off Noah. They wouldn't kill off Noah. (I'm just gonna repeat that to myself until I believe it). At first I laughed like "yeah right! Nice try! Noah can't die" but then I doubted myself and here we are 30 seconds later. Well I'm going to shift over to the things I liked, no LOVED about this book.Ahem. Here we go."Is this your way of telling me to keep my stuff together?""It's my way of telling you that I can't bear to look at my bed without seeing you in it." "I knew Noah worshipped Charlie Parker and that his toothbrush was green. That he wouldn't bother to button his shirts correctly but always made his bed. That when he slept he curled into himself and that his eyes were the color of the clouds before it rained, and I knew he had no problem eating meat but would subtly leave the room if animals were starting to kill one another on the Discovery Channel. I knew one hundred little things about Noah Shaw but when he kissed me I couldn't remember my own name.""We're only seventeen," I said quietly."Screw seventeen." His eyes and voice were defiant. "If I were to live a thousand years, I would belong to you for all of them. If I were to live a thousand lives, I would want to make you mine in each one." less

Shit scalated quickly.Brb, reading Retribution now.[EDITED] Okay, I'm calmer now so I can properly review this book.WHAT. THE. FUCK. If you think that this book cannot fuck you up further: well, you're wrong. I just did not expect it. I spent half the book trying to figure out whether Mara was really insane or not, and then shit went down. Hard.I was very confused at the beginning, but it is quite impressive how Hodkin opens so many different lines to throw them all together in the end in the most subtle way. All through 500 pages of pure intensity, you certainly have to struggle to put it down. Also, Noah Shaw is reason enough to read this trilogy. He's a sarcastic cocky prick and I want one of those for Christmas. Also, WHATTHEACTUALFUCK.

This book is intense. I found myself taking breaks in between chapters. I was never bored reading this. I was on edge throughout the book. I wouldn't reread the book , but I am so glad I read it. It's like no other, creative, original, and I found myself thinking about Mara even when I wasn't reading it. if you want to be opened to new world, like great charecters , something that will keep you reading , YOU HAVE TO PICK UP THIS BOOK. Trust me if you thought the first book was good, the second one is so much better !
