review 1: Blown Away, Didn't Expect It To End This Way!Okay, I just have to say that I loved this book! It was beyond what I imagined it to be when I first started reading it & WOW, what an ending! Avery Jones pretending to be a boy to get into the band Brutal Strength was just the highlight of this year's reading for me! I've watched Anime with cross-dressing as a boy & of course, She's The Man, but to read about it is just amazing! It took my breath away, it's was the perfect romance & music combination! I can't wait until I get to read what the next book in Black Cat Records is about! I'm really very excited! I feel giddy with the fact that this book surprised me which isn't easy to do, I wanted more and I got more than what I expected to! Marcus & his goofy yet sexy personality ... moretook my breath away which isn't easy to do in contemporary but I loved it so much!Love Evolution had it all:Mobsters; Musicians; Bands; Hot Rock-stars; Humor; Sarcasm; Love; Family; Realistic Situations; Moments When My Heart Was Pounding!; Jealousy; Kick-ass Lead Female; Smokin' Hot Lead Male; Rehab-Related Situations; "Bromance"; Cross-dressing {Which Is Rare} & Attraction! Is there anything else you could ask for? Perfect YA on the verge of NA {BTW, when I say NA (New Adult) I mean the whole age-limit thing (NA is 18 to 25) without the sexual graphics so youngsters totally can read it!}A sigh of content, I am in love with this book, totally recommend it with more stars than is allowed! A book that will never be regretted! LOVE EVOLUTION just BLEW me AWAY!
review 2: I'm currently addicted to the 'girl masquerading as a boy to go to an all boys function/school/camp/society/gig' thing and I've recently read The Academy and Babe in boyland. Although my favorite would have to be The Academy this book is my all time top 3. I guessed EVERYTHING before it happened so yeah, no surprises for me. Except that little thing Marcus said to Avery at the end I did not expect that so soon. I was really looking for a glimpse into the future but if the next series branches off of this book then I understand the no future peeks. I probably won't read the next one, like I said I'm into the 'girl masquerading as a boy to go to an all boys function/school/camp/society/gig' thing and I highly doubt the next book will portray that. I mean how many books in one series can the heroine disguises as a male but still come out heterosexual? You'll eventually run out of reasons and then she'll just be a dyke or your characters are stupid. less
