review 1: If you're well-versed in the "entrepreneur takes life by the horns" type of manifestos, blogs, personalities, and whatnot, this reads like a younger version of the genre's key point--just do it!I breezed through it, as much of this is hashed up in most of the literature of the same vein, although Miki Agrawal does highlight how much being ballsy helps her out. Get yourself noticed for a quality product. Don't take no or the security guard telling you that you can't for an answer. Always have an action or ask of your guests, be it to invest in your idea or share the news about your product. Be memorable. Be creative. Focus on the other person! Let people share about themselves! Make it about them: you aren't presenting your new idea ... they've been hand-picked to attend an... more exclusive event! Make your events interactive and involved! Engage honestly! Make it easy for people to share about what it is you're doing.Get the work out about what you're doing. Personally visit or call every media outlet in your area. Give them something unique to remember you by, whether it's an angle, story, or event. And, give back: What negatively affects your community? What is the solution? What is the product that facilitates the solution? Mental reframe: YOU have to stay healthy in order to be your best entrepreneurial self. POWER up your body with good food (instead of DIET) and RELEASE all of that pent up energy (instead of EXERCISE). Build your community.
review 2: As a follower of Delivering Happiness, what drew me to the book was the Forward by Tony Hsieh. What kept me reading was the simple straightforward no-nonsense approach that Miki used to share and sell her concepts for creating a unique business that is not only profitable but gives back to the community/world as well. This is not a quick fix book. If done correctly, it requires you to really be open and honest with yourself and you must be determined to put 250% of yourself into the project. One of my favorite quotes from the book is from Arthur Ashe, " From what we get we can make a living; what we give however, makes a life." Whether you are a Millennial or a Boomer or somewhere in between, junk the excuses; find your passion; create your cool business model, and do it. After reading this book and learning more about the author, I am now also a follower of Miki Agrawal. She is a true inspiration. For those of you who are graduates of the Influencer program, you should add her to your list. less
