review 1: It's really hard to place this book. It's definitely funny in a black humor sort of way, and on the other hand, a little disturbing and really makes you think about these little rodents as pets because the actions described in the book are so routine for typical inexperienced hamster owners. Be careful who you recommend this to; I think it would be very easy for the wrong person to get upset or outraged, IMO.
review 2: Am I really still a sucker for books about hamsters? There's a third grader in me yet. But this is not a book for the kiddies, unless they are emo ones. Well, or just an emo adult. This is a quick read, akin to a dark, cute power point story of the brief and intellectually depressive life of a captive hamster. Oi, I have to think of the sad ... moreand abortive lives of the hamsters I had a kid. Poor little guys; you did deserve better. less
