review 1: I didn't feel the ... sizzle (for lack of a better word) that I felt in the other M.J. Kin books, which was disappointing. It also seemed like the author tried to pack the story full of action. Unfortunately none of it was well developed, and served only to make the story convoluted. I do love the world, however, and it was nice to start building away from the DuCaine family into other periferral characters.
review 2: I received this book for free from Goodreads First Reads to review.I did not read the previous books in the series but I liked how it was pretty easy to understand what was going on for the most part and while some spoilers from the previous books were given away, it didn't take away from the story. However I had a very hard time getting into thi
... mores novel. While I found main character Ash intriguing by himself, I didn't care from his chemistry with Bryony and that love story. It seemed like there was too much action going on in this novel but neither the action or the main characters were well developed. The alternating viewpoints were sometimes confusing since they happened occasionally in the middle of chapters, but for the most part they were okay to deal with. However there were some exciting and entertaining parts, and a pretty good ending. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I liked this book enough to go back and read the others in this series. less
