review 1: This was a pretty good book! There was a point in the middle where I was a bit sick of the characters and especially Claire's insecurities. If she was so 'gorgeous' and had a 'banging body' then she would not be sending pics of herself trying on clothing items and texting them to Cole . . . . I did like the real-life possibility in the middle of the book where the 'issue' shows up and destroys their relationship.Overall a good book, easy read, nice character development.
review 2: This book was picked for me as part of a challenge...and I must say thank-you to my mystery picker! This is probably not a book that would have come to my attention otherwise, and despite a few issues I had with it, I really enjoyed it. Break in Two is, as its name might suggest, br... moreoken into 2 parts. In the first we meet Claire, who is fleeing a bad breakup and a cheating ex, and Cole, her sexy new cowboy boss. The first section of the book takes up about 60%, and most of this is spent on the characters getting to know each other...and then getting to know each other intimately. Intimately in a variety of ways...and then more ways. Herein lies my first issue with the book. I honestly feel like this could have been about 100 pages shorter, and most of that could have been trimmed from the sex scenes in this first part. Now, I love a good sex scene as much as the next smut reader, but sometimes...enough is enough! In the second part, Cole's past comes back to haunt him and the lovers are torn apart. One of the things I loved about this plot is the fact that it wasn't the heroine's insecurities or some stupid misunderstanding which lead the two to part...it was an actual event. Really, Claire did the only thing she could have done. But that's just my opinion of course. And this makes the HEA even sweeter and more satisfying when it does happen.Regardless of my issues, I found the author's style easy to read and the plot held my interest for the most part. Deserving of 4 solid stars for me. less
