review 1: I read a book a little over a year ago by another author with the same characters of Wray & Kim. I have been driving myself nuts going through all my kindle books & Nook books. When I read Grim I swear it matched up to a book I read to a T. Oddly enough every name and that characters background felt like déjà vu. I knew what was coming next in Grim because of this other book I read when it referenced Wray or Kim. Now I started this book and 3 chapters in and see minor similarities. In the other book the Tornian's stopped the slave ship from leaving their planet. When Kim was discovered she was surrounded by Tornian warrior's and was conscious...She was beaten, but fought like a warrior (Wray called her lil warrior or lil one) so she was not raped in the other version I ... moreread. Wray instantly claimed Kim as his to protect. The educator was manipulated by Wray's right hand man in the other story which caused problems for Kim....so I'm interested in seeing how this book compares to what I read in the past. I will continue to seek the title and authors name of the story that seems to be the one in the same. Once I do I will share here in my review...It is beyond frustrating to not track it down yet. 11/16/14
review 2: ay Vasteri....Emperor of the Tornian race. One of the fiercest, nastiest warrior races in the galaxy. Big ( most are over 6 foot), strong (built like football linebackers), and darn good looking. But they have a flaw. Their women were plagued by the great infection, and they have not seen very many female offspring born over the past many years. So they are on the hunt for a species of woman who can bear them female offspring. Kim Tee. Kidnapped from earth by the Ganglian race, repeatedly raped, and, if she survives, she will be sold to a pleasure house. A green-eyed redhead, she will fetch a great price. But she has to survived the brutality of the Ganglians first.Wray and his crew intercepted a Ganglian ship crossing through Tornian space, and when they boarded it, the Ganglians fought back. Which was surprising, because the Ganglians never put up a fight. Maybe because they had a female captive on board? When Wray finds Kim, it is lust/love at first sight. She is his, and he will have her. When Wray takes her from the Ganglian ship to his own, their shuttle crashes on a deserted mining planet, and Wray and Kim have a week alone to get to know each other. But of course, once they are rescued, all kinds of things go wrong.Ms. Eidem builds a typical Sci-Fi world, where women are scarce for one reason or another. On Tornia, the women know that they have the upper hand, and are selfish, self-centered witches, who take from the men, and give as little as possible. But Kim is different, and shows that. She also shows her inner strength and resilience in surviving the horrors that were thrust upon her, but still has compassion for others. This book shows a 5 star rating, but it is closer to 4.5 stars. As many of the other reviewers stated, there are still grammatical errors, and proof reading errors that really need to be addressed. This is listed as book 2 in the Tornian series. I would read this book, then read Grim, then read this again. I think that some of the things that are addressed in this book will give you a better feeling for the events in Grim's book. Overall, a good read, and I would like to see more of this world and its inhabitants. less
