review 1: Scaredy Squirrel goes Camping by Melanie Watt – I am never disappointed reading a Scaredy Squirrel book. Neither are any of my students! Cannot wait to get this on the shelf. I know I won’t see it for the rest of the school year once it is released to the students! *Warning, if you decided to read it aloud, pace yourself. I shared with my Year 1 students who simply love Scaredy Squirrel and my Year 2 students who are learning about use of public spaces and reading maps… I’m a tiny bit Scaredy Squirreled out now.
review 2: Scaredy Squirrel Goes Camping is a cute book about a squirrel who wants to go camping, but doesn't want to brave the scarey elements of nature to do so. His solution is to "enjoy camping from a safe distance" by watching camping shows
... more on TV. The problem ... he has to brave nature to plug in his TV, and "reaching the nearest electrical outlet will require major survival skills." In the end, Scaredy Squirrel realizes that nature isn't so scary and decides to actually go camping in a more traditional way. I loved this quirky little book -- especially on the last page where it shows that Scaredy Squirrel has set up a tent and plugged in his toaster to make roast a marshmallow, instead of plugging in his TV. Scaredy Squirrel is my kind of camper -- enjoy nature, with some modern amenities. :-) less

The other Scaredy books are better, but I love him anyway.
