review 1: Grab your leathers and hang on tight !! I loved this story , what a great start to a series and really a great build up for plenty more to come from others and the main characters from this story !! I enjoy a good MC story and although I am not always a fan of the blood and dirty violence I can handle it when there is some super hot down and dirty sex thrown in and of course a ton of hot alpha moody biker dudes !! Dani has lived a sheltered life at the hands of her mother. Never knowing her father she has always accepted her moms ways because she has raised her and wanted the best for her , right ?? Now all of a sudden there is drama , her mothers boyfriend has done something to send Dani and her mom flying off to the only person her mom has ever wanted to keep her from. T... morehe last thing Dani expects is to be thrown into the midst of the MC world and having her father not just be a member but the MC President !! Icing on the cake is the super hot and elusive Shadow , Dani knows better being warned by her mother and Shadow himself but she just can't stay away. Innocence or not Dani is ready to go all in for this man and as crazy insane as it is Shadow is willing to risk it all for her too !! Shadows past is heartbreaking and it still haunts him everyday. Not only that but the people of his past have a bad habit of coming back to stir up trouble and right now as he is finally finding some happiness they decide to strike. Dani and Shadow are not only sneaking around the MC but Shadow is holding back things and despite trying he may not be able to protect the woman he is growing to love. There is your normal nasty dirty biker behavior in the form of club whores and parties , also the violence and jobs they handle. Bull is great , I honestly love him and I am so glad Dani is getting to know her dad and you can tell she is more like him than her mother wants to admit !! Dani's mom is a real piece of work and the way she acts is so confusing , she is not a very nice mother and the things she says and the things you find out WOW just WOW , I would love to just ditch her and let her troubles find her !! I will warn there is a cliffy and I don't feel I am spoiling anything because had I known there was one I would have had so many other ideas of what it was but none of them would have been right !! I did not expect that at all !! Seriously BUY BOOK 2 because you will be like OMG I NEED IT NOW !! I am so thrilled I had both books because I immediately dove into book 2 it was a shocker of a cliffy !!
review 2: 2014 has been an amazing year for debut authors, What Doesn't Destroy us by M.N. Forgy is this author's first book, and what a book it is. With so many biker books out there right now it's really hard to find one that's original and holds my attention. This one sucked me in right from the first chapter.Dani and her mother are on the run from her mother's crazy ex. They look for safe haven in the protection of the Devil's Dust MC. Dani is immediately taken with the club's sergeant-at-arms, Shadow. Shadow's not a good guy, he knows he's definitely good enough for young and innocent Dani. Plus she's the daughter of the pres and that makes her hands off automatically. But the pull between these two is too intense to deny. With both of their pasts being unleashed, can this relationship even get off the ground?This book had a crazy good story line and an ending that left me reeling. Seriously, my God! Way to leave a chick hanging. I'm very impressed with Forgy's debut and am officially a fan. Secrets, lies, action, suspense and hot and sexy love scenes make this one a winner in my book. Looking forward to the next one because I need some damn answers!~ Erin, 4 1/2 stars less
