review 1: I pity the poor Jaanoo.... A very funny book, the relishing of which is heightened by the fact that the author must have had as fun writing it as you did while reading it. However, it is a matter of concern that this level of "dumbing-down" and life of frivolous pursuits is not only becoming a norm in the subcontinent, but is increasingly being seen as a worthwhile goal to attain... May wisdom save us
review 2: If you don't speak Urdu, it might be helpful to keep Google Translate at the ready; in this prequel to "Duty Free", Butterfly tends to lapse into entire sentences of it, much more than she did in the next novel. Additionally, Butterfly's character isn't yet developed to the point of hilarity as she is in DF. You don't need to read this one first to enjoy... more "Duty Free", so you may choose to bypass this one, but this does have its worthwhile moments. less
