review 1: I was dwelling if I should give this book a four or a five star review. I'd give it a four because at times it did seem a bit simple for me, but then I thought ... Sometimes the simplest things can still be pretty darn amazing ... And this book is just that :). I think the character of Emily is very relatable to young girls, even us a bit older girls ;). We all sometimes wonder if there's something more out there, and if this is all we're going to get out of life. And unfortunately, most of us will settle for Ben, so it's nice to read a novel, even if it is a fairytale, where there is someone like Zach to challenge girls like Emily, and make them feel alive, make them feel like life is beautiful and colorful and so much more, breathtakingly more.I can't wait to read more o... moref this, and hope I won't be disappointed, because this was a very pleasant suprise, and I hope there will be more of it in the sequel.
review 2: Hmmm, where do I start? There were a few moments in the book that I thought were good but then the storyline seemed to take a while to develop and I found myself skimming a few pages (go ahead and gasp, I won’t be offended). The beginning especially is slow to get going and it wasn’t until I was half-way done with the book that I wanted to see what would happen next.Emily is one rigid gal and I simply couldn’t connect with her and I wanted to but couldn’t. I don’t always have to connect with the heroine but I wanted to at least like her. However, there were other characters that grabbed my attention and felt they needed more of the spotlight. Chase!!! Yummy Chase!!! He deserved the spotlight because his character was 3D!!! He had the bad-boy thing going on AND was having a secret relationship with Rachel. Rachel is the best friend who has this tough exterior that I wanted to see broken down AND she was involved with Chase!! Need I say more??The fight scene between Emily and Ashleigh was so unexpected and brilliant!!! It was so colorful and filled with pent-up aggression that I found myself cheering Emily on for having balls! That fight led her to break-up with her boyfriend, Ben and thank goodness because he was simply dull! When Emily meets Zach, things get a little more interesting and the story starts to pick-up. His mother is dying of cancer and I’m immediately drawn in to find out what happens next. But that didn’t develop. Yes, there were moments when he was withdrawn throughout the story but other than that I didn’t see any other impact with regards to his mom dying. I found myself not connecting with Zach either and I wanted to, really I did!Again, there were moments in the book that I enjoyed but something was missing. Perhaps it was because I couldn’t connect with Emily or Zach. I wanted to really love this book because some of the elements were good and I hope the storyline will flourish to its full potential in Broken Castles. less

I can't really decide if I want to give 3 or 4 stars... Actually I am confused if I enjoy the book!
