review 1: I rated His Reverie by Monica Murphy FOUR LEAVES!!This book from the beginning just pulls you in! I am a fan of Murphy’s other work and this one was no different; I am rooting for these two for sure! This book is told from Nick’s point of view however there are diary entries from Reverie’s point of view as well. We start off by learning that Nick was just released from jail for a crime he didn’t commit only to find out that his life as a new man isn’t as cracked up as he wishes it was. He gets a job working for Reverend Hale for the summer as the help around the house when he runs into Reverie and sparks fly instantly. Nick knows that she is untouchable, not just because she’s the boss’s daughter but because she is as innocent as they come. Reverie hasn’t e... morever had a boyfriend or even been kissed but she wants Nick and isn’t afraid to let him know; while she may not know anything about seduction her innocence calls to him and he just can’t say no. These two embark on a secret summer fling but when feelings of love come into play; they know they can no longer try to hide it. Sadly, secrets have a way of coming out at the worst times and although Reverie is willing to fight for Nick at all cost, it’s up to Nick to decide if he is worthy to be fought for. With Nick’s past looming in the air still, things will happen that may cause telling Reverie’s parents about them seem small. Now I will tell you that this book does have a cliffhanger but it is worth the read. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one!!A gifted copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review by Vanessa.
review 2: This is a good young adult story dealing with first love. He is from the "wrong side of the tracks" and she is a TV evangelist's daughter Her name is Reverie and she is exactly that - ephemeral, naive, and sheltered. Falling in love with the "help" would not make her parents happy, but that is just what she did. I love Monica Murphy's writing. Young adult though is just not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, this is an entertaining story with a cliffhanger. I do hope Monica writes the sequel quick. I am curious to find out who murdered... OOOOPS! No spoilers here! less
