review 1: Excellent. I love the early history of Britain and have read a lot about the Roman occupation and the eighth and ninth century history, but there are very few books that cover the Dark ages after the Romans left and so many Saxons, Picts and the Germanic tribes invaded the once protected the island. Wonderful story of survival and the beginnings of the assimilation of other cultures that created the Britain we know today. The Pre-Arthur struggle for a new national identity is captivating. Loved it and hope there will be a sequel of these characters.
