review 1: This is yet another rendition of Pride and Prejudice from the point of view of Mr. Darcy. I liked it very much...really gave a good sense of Darcy and in many ways true to Austen except for the kiss near the end....Jane Austen never had that. The author of this book portrays Georgina also as an interesting character with a softness to her, and Colonel George Fitzwilliam, Georgie's other guardian is also filled in quite a bit. There is a sequel.....Miss Darcy, and another one about Caroline Bingley. Both had sample chapters at the end of this edition and they both look promising. The dialogs are faithful to Austen, but it seems there were a few events involving both Darcy and Elizabeth that are not in this novel that were in the original. Anyway, for Austen fan-fictio... moren and retelling books, this is very good. If you like Pride and Prejudice, you'll like this, and there aren't any zombies in this one!!!
review 2: With this being a fan fiction I should have expected the amateur writing, but still I was disappointed. This is a great idea for a fan fiction (or adaptation) but her characters fall flat. I won't talk about the awkward action and descriptions but was rather most frustrated by the unconvincing conversations between Darcy, Bingley, and Richard. I cringed through a lot of the dialogue because their words felt forced. Also, a lot was said between them that should have gone without saying as a result of their relationships. Bingley and Darcy know each other extremely well, they don't need to explain their reasoning behind certain actions; they just know. Also, I grew weary of "knowing smiles", "animated" and "laughing eyes," and random smothered laughter. However, it is a fan fiction. That's all it is meant to be. Just kind of wish I hadn't paid for it. less
