A Roxy Abruzzo Mystery
review 1: Nice fast, easy read with some murder and mystery to liven up the plot.Roxy is a refreshing character. She has some problems, and she is pretty close to being broke. I loved the way that she kicked ass and wouldn't let anyone push her around. When it came time, she was there for the people that needed her and she would anything for the people she loved. However, she also had some problems that she needed to work out too. It was cool to see a kick ass character with some issues that we say her work through. The plot in the murder mystery was fast paced but a little bit predictable. The tie in of Roxy's personal life flowed nicely with the mystery and nothing really felt out of place. However, I found that the plot sorta dropped off a little bit for me around the middle, only... more to pick back up towards the end.I didn't really like the ending to this book. I don't know what it was about it, I just wasn't a big fan of it.Not a bad read. Recommend it to people who like mystery with some spunk!
review 2: I wasn't expecting the tough-talking, booze-swilling, fist-throwing, sex-aholic main character... At first, it was refreshing. I was glad to not be reading another bubble gum type hot chick that solves crimes while being wooed by multiple hot men. However, the ending killed it for me. I like a mystery to be, well, a mystery. I like to be surprised by the evil-doer, not bored. There was so little reasoning behind the crime, that it's almost as if the author realized she had one chapter left and should probably tell the audience who-done-it, only she hadn't quite decided, so she grabbed the most obvious and easiest choice. Several other scenarios and scenes were rendered entirely pointless with the "finale". Then, side characters were quickly swept under the rug with casual, one-liner explanations... or none at all. It may be that the series dramatically improves with the next installments, but I'm not interested enough to find out. less

So far, I like the Blackbird Sisters series better. I'd read more in this series if they exist. :)

I should make a shelf called "Stephanie Plum Wannabes."
