review 1: This was the book chosen by my book club to read this month. It's the story of the adult life of Elizabeth Barrett Browning. I love historical fiction so expected to enjoy this book. However, I found the book boring and almost unbelievable. Yet, it's true. All of it. I would have given this book two stars because, for much of the story, I couldn't stay focused. However, I gave it three stars because E.B.B. led a very unusual life and the author did her research well.
review 2: This was...okay. It wasn't really fantastic, but it was interesting enough for a summer read. The best parts of it were the snippets of letters from Barrett and Browning. I don't have a lot more to say - maybe it's just that I didn't really find the story terribly appealing, but it... more was definitely...lacking. Also: not a big fan of the main character as she was written in the novel, and it annoyed me. less
