review 1: You can see that it was written by a socialist. It is really a poor work when you say that USA is a bottomless pit of capitalism and on the next page you talk about how Nixon terminated the gold parity and the dollar is completely government controlled. It misrepresent theories from adam smith and omit other pro capitalism theories. The book subscribe to the theory that the 1929 crises happened because we had an excess of free market. I would give one star but the book has some cultural depth.
review 2: The Economics Book by Nialal Kishtainy is just as its subtitles describe. It is a book of big ideas of economics simply explained. This book gave me the basic background knowledge of economics. It was a great book for me, who has no idea about econocmics. It exp... morelaines everything from the beginning; you don't need to have prior knowledge. Also, for people wouldn't be comfortable reading words all the time for such a difficult subject, the author Niall Kishtainy inserted many diagrarms, charts, and illustrations to explain the difficult concepts. With all the pictures and diagrams, the book actually made me flipping pages all the time. Although it was a educational book, teaching me about concepts of economics, it was fun and interesting to understand how the world works. This book is recommended to people who are willing to learn about economics, how the world works, and looking for a book that explains all those in a easy way for readers to understand. less
