review 1: I really do have a Love-Hate-Relationship with that novel. I adored many aspects of the book, especially the Paris-setting. But I couldn't warm up to the characters at all (with the esception of Sam Goldberg, who was a gem).It felt a little like the author is writing about his/her own experiences as an author who uses a fake name for his/her novels. Nicolas Barreau apparently doesn't exist, but I don't know if the story would have been better if it wasn't published by a fake Frenchman. It was an enjoyable read, but that's about it.
review 2: A cute light read. Paris is always magical. And everything always starts with the smile of a woman. I could have easily watched this as a movie adaptation, it's that French. Well, that's really not surprising, is it? :) Any... moreway. Aurelie is likeable, as the unlucky in love woman. How creepy would it be to find a book written about you by a stranger you've never met. Aurelie is enchanted by this book and wants to meet the author to discuss the surprising likeness to her life. But somehow, the enigmatic writer never turns up. Instead his French publisher takes over, who is a gruff man in her eyes. Not even her type. But he's hiding a secret. Will this secret come out, will it destroy her? A cat and mouse game takes place where Andre, the publisher falls in love with Aurelie, but she is enchanted with the mysterious writer. How in the world will this end?A typical, fun, cute French love comedy. If you love anything French, you will love this too. Enjoy! less
