review 1: This is a fantastic book and I was delighted to discover Nigel McCrery. The book starts in a horrific manner, really creepy, but moves into a fascinating work, with an interesting protagonist, good pace and satisfying ending. All McCrery's books in this series have a deeply disturbed villain and these psychological thrillers are, simply, different, and more complex than the average mystery. I wish he'd write more.
review 2: This is an example of how important an interesting prose is. The Plot was decent, and interesting in some points, but the prose was very sophomoric. A lot of "telling" instead of "showing" so to speak. During the climax I found myself being pulled forward by the plot, wanting to find out what happened, while simultaneously being pulled back
... moreby the lackluster storytelling. Not a very satisfying read. less

Just remember that English from England is a different language than American English. =)

This book took me forever to finish! There were parts I liked, but it was OK at best.
