Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter
review 1: I thoroughly enjoyed the tale of Aurora's transformation from ordinary human girl with a bright future to newest inductee into the world of vampire's. What I found most interesting was that for once a main, female, young character didn't just immediately go "vampire's? Of course they're real." Aurora struggles with her new reality and rebels. She actually gives it thought and is not automatically enthralled with the idea of the undead.
review 2: There were certain parts of this story that were good and some that were so unrealistic that I could only laugh and shake my head at.The protagonist is one of those types that makes you want jab a fork in her throat just to shut her up. Immature (and yet she was accepted to Notre Dame), and makes one bad decision on top
... more of another. After her car accident, she supposedly dies, gets swooped up by the military, brought back to life with three major organ transplants, and then enlisted as a vampire hunter because of her special blood type, and her mother just sits back and lets it all happen, even signs away her parental rights. Um, yeah, I can see any parent doing that. Aurora (from Alaska - get it?) has a father who is not involved in her life at all and yet we never learn why he takes off in the middle of the story or what the conflict between him and his family is. She meets the guy of her dreams (that she couldn't stand at the beginning of the story) and has no idea he's a vampire even after she is told that they have sharp molars (um, how can a vampire puncture a tiny vein with sharp MOLARS in the BACK of their mouths?) and is given tons of clues. Predictably, she falls in love with him anyway. This book is one cliche after another. The only character I liked was Noel. She seemed more "real" to me than any of the others and that is a stretch. I know that fiction is fiction but there has to be something believable about any book you read if you're going to connect with it. less

Meh. Nothing too spectacular about this series. But it occupied my time for a day.
