review 1: This book was just o.k. for me. It has been a stretch of time between this book and the first one and I was expecting it to highlight the original characters and it did not. The original characters Bambi and Lynx was mentioned much later in the book...more like close to the end. I kept putting this book down and it took me much longer than normal to read a Nikki Turner book. She just lost me on this book...it seemed jumpy to me and predictable. The author introduced characters and situations without an explanation or introduction. I found myself flipping back pages trying to see if I missed something. I just didn't like the transition. Maybe it's me because I have developed a love of YA fiction and other genres of reading and was in the mode for another form of storytellin... moreg. I've enjoyed Nikki Turner in the past so maybe I just wasn't in the mood. I'm just glad I got this one from the library especially since I don't own the first one.
review 2: This book is just like any other "urban" book to me. Girl down on her luck, parents missing or just awful, girl tries to protect brother, brother dies trying to provide. Ok ok ok....been there read that! The book was too short I read it in a couple of hours. I need more substance and just when it was getting good the book just ends. What happened to the children, did Lynx ever come out of hiding and help????? Questions and more questions. less
