New York: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers.Schneider Family Award 2010This is an amazing book that takes the reader into the mind of a 12 year old autistic boy. The book gives the reader an incredible insight as to how a person with autism thinks or reacts to any given situation. Jason faces many struggles with having autism and is put into a greater struggle when he is faced with meeting a girl PhoenixBird, aka Rebecca, who met while writing stories online. This a book that could be used in the classroom so that students can relate and understand what it is like to have autism.
review 2: A short quick book about a boy with autism written from his point of view. It opens a reader up to the basic idea that others ... moremay not think the same way that I do. Their experiences are unknown to us, their perception simply other than mine. And most everyone knows things they either don't admit, or just don't want to know. A heartfelt book, clean with a few crude terms, caring about the characters is a big sign for me that the writing is good, and I did care. less
