review 1: Blood Brothers - 5/5 - This was a good story. Well done Nora Roberts. Yes, it's rather formulaic (aren't they all?) but it is highly entertaining with plenty of suspense and some rather unique horror twists. There's the romance which enhanced the story pretty nicely. We do get to meet all the characters in this story IIRC so there's plenty going on here, but I never got confused. (Small nitpick - I get irritated when Nora Roberts writes kids - she does not capture the mind of a kid very faithfully, even in their rebellion they're perfect little angels). I look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy. The Hollow - 4/5 - The story was great - I love the whole story arc, how the three guys with the same birthday and some cool psychic powers and the three connected women get... more to battle the evil demon. And I loved the characters of Fox and Layla. Fox is my favorite, with his very beta personality, his hippie parents and his rebellion from his vegetarian, health-food childhood. Layla is okay. I was disappointed in the romance, especially since these two shared a psychic connection. I sort of expected there to be a bit more intensity to it...but it fell kind of flat. And the sister asking Fox to father her and her partner's IVF baby made me uncomfortable...I kept thinking about how Fox would father a child and not be able to raise it...it just felt weird. The Pagan Stone - 4/5 - Okay - so what started out as a great series gets a little weird here at the end. This particular story, which wraps up the romance with Gage and Cybil's romance is actually quite good. Both of them are quite cynical and have recognized the pattern of couples pairing off (which irritated me about the Key trilogy that these people didn't pick up on that right away) and refuse to fall into the trap. They do anyway of course. And the closer it comes to the demon thingy coming back and the trip to the Pagan Stone looms closer, things get really scary and crazy in town. I like the suspense of it. I didn't like how cheesy the wrap up and confrontation ended up being. But it's Nora Roberts, so I can't expect an epic battle or anything. I was also weirded out by the whole everybody gets pregnant at the same time deal. Supposedly, the addition of 3 unborn babies adds strength and power to the six. Whatever. Perhaps for the Caleb & Fox couplings, where they already know they're in love and want to be together forever, this isn't such a bad thing. But Gage and Cybil don't know each other that well, they've just sort of fallen into love and suddenly they're going to be parents? How unromantic is that? I most certainly wasn't a fan of that particular aspect of this trilogy...
review 2: LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. I could not read it fast enough. It was recommened by my boss, Eva who lend me the books. I remember specifically when I started reading it, I was a little hesitate of how I would like it because, I never read of Nora Robert books. It was a Sunday morning where instead of turning the TV on and having my coffee, I opened the pages to the world of Caleb, Fox and Gage; I basiaclly read the first book that day. It had a little bit of everything from relationships between old friends, new friends to family, loss, sadness, happiness, love, lust, thrill, scary and spenseful. less

Predictable 'happy ever after' ending, but thats what I was looking to read, so I enjoyed it.
