review 1: It took me far too long than I'd like to admit, but yes it happened: I finished it. (But really, it didn't take long because the book sucked, at all, I just lacked time.)This book is, easy said, just a rewrite from the first season. (Almost) everything that happened in the first season is put to words. It's written from Emma and Snow/Mary-Margaret's POV (so the things that they aren't aware of aren't (always) written down.)I think it's absolutely lovely that this book exists, because I love Emma to pieces and I really like this extra look inside her head.I really wish there were more books, because I love OUAT (yes, I'd dare say it's my favourite show, ever), and I really can't get enough of it.(And of course, having more books would mean having an inside look of how Emma ... moreslowly fell in love with Killian *sighs happily.)I'd say, if you haven't read it and love Emma - and Snow - this book is worth reading, it's an easy read, and very easy to imagine since it's almost exactly like the first season.
review 2: I got to say, first off, that I went into this book wanting to love it. I love the show. And I guess I was hoping this would give us even more information about this world than the TV show does. Unfortunately, this was not even worth the time. If you have never seen the show don't read this book. You will be so lost and there are so many holes that you will not have the information for. If you are wanting to get into Once Upon A Time watch the show. All three seasons are on Netflix. For those who know the show let me tell you why I didn't like this. Mr.Gold (Rumple) and Belle are not present enough for my taste. Rumple is one of the main reasons I love this show. His story is so interesting. And this book pretty much just focuses on Emma and Snow's story. The story itself was rushed. There is no detail or build up to what there doing. They are here, now they are doing this....It's more like a summary or an outline of the show then even a story. Now I tired to finish this book. I had about 30 pages left but I couldn't. I was getting to angry. If you are a fan of this show I don't think you will enjoy it. If you're someone who has never seen the show I think you'll be confused. If they are going to turn this show into a book. It would have to be a series. And I'm not gonna lie I would LOVE that. There is so much to this world and so many intertwined story lines. I give props to Odette Beane for trying but it just wasn't at all what I expected. less
