FOREVER AND A DAY. Episode 7
I sit with my head down for a while, trying to replay events of the last three weeks, searching for a possible reason, a motive why I’d resort to shoving my wife down the stairs.
Officer 1: “can it be said you killed your wife so you wouldn’t have to face her family and made it appear like an accident?”
Anthony: “that doesn’t even make any sense! Don’t I still have to face her family now?! I think the logical thing to do would be to kill my mistress!”
Officer 1: “and you can prove your innocence how?”
Anthony: “…I don’t know. And if I did kill her how come I can’t remember any of it?!”
Officer 1: “Mr. Anthony, I don’t think you understand the position you’re in… you were found trying to flee your house when the police arrived. The earlier you tell the truth the better for you!”
Anthony: “what truth?! I did not kill my wife! Who called the police?! Shouldn’t you be questioning the person?!”
Officer 1: “I see…guy its time”
Anthony: “time for what?!”
Officer 2 releasing my cuffed wrists, pulls me to my feet.
Anthony: “where are you taking me?! It’s time for what?! Please officers! I didn’t kill my wife!”
I’m dragged out of the room into what turns out to be my living room. As my eyes begins to adjust to the naturally lit room, I notice Officer 2 is Frank, May’s little brother and Terry his friend had been playing the role of Officer-beat-me-to-a-pulp.
What’s going on?!
“Hello Anthony…”
My God!
My knees grow weak and I stumble against Terry.
It can’t be!
Right in the center of my living room stands my beautiful wife, unharmed and flanked by her parents.
Anthony: “can someone please, please explain what the hell is GOING ON?!!! Cause you’re supposed to be dead!”
May: “isn’t it obvious?! I’m not dead”
Anthony: “but…the photos…I don’t understand”
May: “oh those…hehehehehe…I merely employed the services of a very good special effects makeup artist and my brother took the pictures”
I fall to my knees.
Anthony: “so you’re …not dead?”
May: “oh Anthony, don’t be silly! I’m not dead! Why did I fake my own death and have my brother and his friend torture you?”
I nod weakly. She begins to walk in my direction.
May: “cause I wanted to see you suffer…to feel the hurt I’ve had to deal with this past months you piece of shit! Oh as for your little mistress? I found out about her several weeks back when I visited your office and she was there playing dead…the very office I paid for! I furnished! Anyways I paid her to pretend she’s pregnant…that was stage one.”
Anthony: “Evon isn’t pregnant?!”
May: “did you think I didn’t know you’ve always been unfaithful?! And I thought we having a child would make you stop…well that never happened…thank God!”
Anthony: “you knew?! Why dint you say something?”
May: “why didn’t you keep yourself in check?!”
In quick strides she returns to the centre table, retrieves a document and returns towards me.
May: “anyways, I want a divorce.”
She tosses the papers in my direction.
May: “divorce papers, sign them”
Anthony: “di-vorce?! No no no no no! May, baby…you can’t leave me! We can work through this! Please!”
I make to grab her ankle and Frank shoves me back against the wall
May: “I expect you to be gone in 72 hours, the house is mine remember? Don’t make me throw you out”
With that she exits with her family.
Terry aims one final blow at my head and I escape into merciful blackness.
