review 1: Oh how much do I love this book. LOVE.It was quite unexpected. I was expecting something fun and a little funny, but this one tug at my heart strings. I felt my eyes welling up.It's about being youthful with endless possibilities and suddenly tragedy strikes, like a loss, and things are never quite the same. This little girl is heartbroken and to guard herself she puts her heart in a bottle. Time passes and she is finally ready to reclaim her heart, but shes can't remember how to do it. It's a little girl, who still believes in endless possibilities, that shows her how.Very moving and delightfully illustrated. I think this is one of my favourites from Oliver Jeffers.
review 2: Once there was a little girl whose head was filled with all the curiosities o
... moref the world... until the day she found an empty chair. The world then seemed emptier too, and the girl decided to put her heart in a safer place. But will she ever be able to get her heart back?Oliver Jeffers deals with the weighty theme of love and loss through this moving story, with such ingenuity and lightness that will speak to children and adults alike. The words are accompanied by delicate illustrations that capture the feelings of loss and loneliness, which gives the story its profoundly moving tone. less
