review 1: After seeing this advertised on Goodreads, I bought it to give as a gift. Before wrapping it, I read a few stories myself. It seems to be a very well-done collection, and I especially like the little author bios that proceed each story. It is a very large book with small print, so it is a bit of a struggle for a far-sighted, weak-wristed person like myself to read. It's a nice-looking book, but the ebook may be more practical. I just hope the receiver likes it.
review 2: The descriptive blurb on the cover proclaims, "The Most Complete Collection of Yuletide Whodunits Ever Assesmbled." Not only complete, I'd add, but perhaps the most enthralling anthology ever. It's editor, Otto Penzler, proprietor of The Mysterious Bookshop in Manhattan, is well-known and respe
... morected for the numerous anthologies he has edited and published. The Big Book of Christmas Mysteries can only add to that reputation. Spanning a century and more the sixty stories that comprise this collection explore nearly every facet of murder and mayhem one might see perpetrated at Christmastime. Classic tales, obscure gems, modern masterpieces--there are stories here to satisfy every preference. Beginning and ending with Agatha Christie, a partial list of the authors includes: Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sara Paretsky, Peter Lovesey, Ellis Peters, O. Henry, Ellery Queen, Isaac Asimov, and many more. If you like mysteries and you like Christmas, you should like this book. less

Not a cover to cover read, more of a pick and choose from which ones catch your interest.
