review 1: I'm not usually a fan of Austen 'sequels' but I discovered this on the library shelf and the cover convinced me to give it a try. It's a sweet little story of Mary Bennet getting to find love. The 'overlooked' sister, I really liked how the author pulls in the knock on affect that hurtful comments often spoken by loved ones can have on a person. Was inspiring to read of Mary's inner strength & courage in overcoming the obstacles.
review 2: Enjoyable enough. Mary gets a make-over then attracts a handsome guy who's really persistent and totally into her. There's little of the original character by Jane Austen and I find Mary's new characterization hard to believe. Her old character flaws were gone, leaving her a different person. I usually like Ugly Duckling stor... moreies about Mary Bennet, but the transformation got relegated in the introductory exposition and starts off with the new Mary. less
