review 1: Do you like books that are about a person, who has to move to a new a place and has to get used to it? If you do, then this is a book you should read. The genre in this book is realistic fiction. I think this book is one of my most favorite books that i have ever read. The setting is mostly in school, in the present. It is important because most of the book takes place in the school where he learns different things and gets his first friend, just because he had returned a shoe to a student without saying a word. Travis wanted to return back to his old home, but his grandfather told him that he had to be used to his new house. So, he started to get used to his new home when he got his first friend at school. Then, his new friend named Velveeta, found out his secret. The ... moretype of conflict is person vs. self because Travis has a secret that nobody knows except for him.He doesn't want anyone to know that, and his teacher Mr. McQueen is the first one to find out. that he isn't a bluefish at all. I wish that the author had told us how the story ended because the author didn't tell what the ending was. I was angry about that because I really don't like books that don't have an ending. That was the only thing that I didn't like about this book. My favorite part was when Travis started to learn to read because i liked the way Mr. McQueen was teaching him. He was teaching him to read by making Travis learn 5 words at a time. Travis would get circle words that he didn't understand in a book that the teacher Mr. McQueen let him borrow. I understood why Mr. McQueen only made Travis learn 5 words at a time. I think that he made him learn only a small amount of words at a time is because if he tried learning a huge amount of words Travis might not be able to learn them and there would be a chance that he would give up. I would rate this book 5 stars because it kept me wanting to read it and it gave a lot of detail throughout the story. I would recommend this book to people who like to read about other people overcoming things. Overall, this is why you should read this book.
review 2: Now this book is terrible. An empty useless and meaningless book. I was forced to read the the year of my eighth grade summer and it is garbage. It was so bad I read it in two days. After a summer of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, it was just dry and a small baby book. I pray for you if you must read it. So why did it get one star it didn't give the option of zero. THIS IS GARBAGE. HOW COULD ANY ONE CALL THIS MIDDLE SCHOOL "LITERATURE". no wonder Americans are uncultured and dumb. less
