review 1: I received a copy of this book for my honest review. I picked this book to review because I love romance, and I love futuristic! But let's make no bones about it, this is erotica. Just because it's erotica doesn't mean it's badly written. On the contrary, the characters were well developed, the plot was exciting and made sense, and the writing was good. I particularly enjoyed the author's portrayal of dominant and submissive sex and the way she juxtaposed it with the misconceptions of the practice by creating a world based on those fallacies. She did a great job of showing that dominate/submissive sex is not about a weak person and a strong person, but rather two strong people learning to trust and care on a deeper level.I also loved the worlds Ms. Knight created. They are... more full of. fantastic gadgets and cultures that are believable and at times cruel. The plot was fast paced and action packed, but a little predictable. One thing caught me off guard though, and I laughed out loud for a good minute at the end of the book. I won't spoil it, but it was perfect.While the writing was good, there were many distracting places that could have used some looking over; lots of repetitive words and some awkward phrasing. Overall not enough to garner a negative review though. This book is for adults only because of detailed and graphic sex scenes. There is also violence and blood as well as some themes of rape. While these parts of the story are not too detailed, it is a caution for specific readers.Overall an entertaining and easy read.
review 2: I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This is the 3rd book in the Verdantia series. This is a story about Ramsey DeKieran and Steffania Rikard and a connection between them that can’t be denied. Steffania is the leader of the Blue Daggers, they are the galactic “bad asses” and have earned their reputation. Steffania is far from submissive in her day to day life, and doesn’t think she has a submissive bone in her body. Ramsey has been offered a complete pardon for crimes he has been framed for, in exchange to help rescue Lady Alessa DeAlbero, who is extremely important to the livelihood of Verdantia. The planet that Steffania and Ramsey have to travel to lives the dom/sub livestyle to the extreme. They both have to play their roles perfectly, or this mission could turn extremely dangerous, or even deadly. It’s obvious that Ramsey will make a excellent dom for Steffania, but will she finally give in to her desires and realize that she would make a perfect sub for Ramsey?Patricia Knight does an excellent job with the character detail and the story-line. If you haven’t read the other books, there may be points where you may miss things because of the background from the previous books, yet you still enjoy the story. I look forward to reading more from Patricia A. Knight. less
